![]() But I like TM1 for its ideas and more realistic setting. And multiplayer as well, 2 is the no-contest winner. Twisted Metal 2 is an absolutely fantastic game, and it does have some gameplay advantages and more interesting character design (in some ways-Sweet Tooth’s filmed endings in TM1 are definitely creepier than TM2’s sillier ending). I wrote up a post here a few years back, but in short, the scale of the maps, attention to detail in how each level’s environments flesh out this fascinating world of car-combat (police trying to shoot you on foot as you compete, first-person driving dashboards for each character, audio tracks that change in intensity based on proximity to nearby enemies, and absolutely massive maps of LA Freeways and suburbs-normal, every day locations that have been turned into panicked ones as Calypso’s sick contest bleeds from underground arenas into normal Christmastime city streets). I still stand by my belief that TM1 is the best in the series. Suburbs for example is still a lot of fun. Also, the level design has (mostly) held up over the years. It’s not that great looking and it’s more of a novelty but its there if you want it. ![]() It suffers from the same outdated controls that 2 does but it actually has some uniqueness to it that even the newer games don’t have like having a cockpit view. But to be honest both in feel and art direction it’s very similar to TM2 and in a lot of ways feels more like a spiritual successor or even a remake of sorts to it. It’s not worth your time.Īlso, as a side note i would have to say i only put PS3 above Head On because I personally feel Head on is a liiiitle too easy. They feel pretty generic car combat and dont have the uniqueness that the other TM games do.ĭont bother with Small Brawl. ![]() Personally i think they’re okay games, just not good twisted metal games. ![]() Even the original team regarded them as being pretty bad. I did not like TM 3 or 4 at all but thy have a fanbase. However if you can get past that, it’s a solid game. ![]() TM2 is generally regarded as the best of the classic games but the controls definitely have not aged well. Highly recommend playing on the easier difficulty for a beginner. ![]()
